3 Ways to Get Into the Holiday Spirit

As we wait for the end-of-year festivities (and to end 2025 on a high note!), we’re participating in as many activities as possible to get us into the festive December spirit. Here are our top suggestions.

Holiday Shopping

During the holidays, we prioritise buying local! There are so many wonderful discoveries to be made: crafts, delicacies, decorative items, jewellery, candles, and so much more.

Holiday shopping begins at Orford Music, at the Marché Falala, a fabulous gathering of Quebec artisans offering beautiful local products. Stop by on November 29 and 30 to take care of all your Christmas shopping in one go (and don’t forget to treat yourself too!).

Want to explore the region on a beautiful sunny day? Take the Christmas Market route, which will lead you to various festive locations where you can do your Christmas shopping, including Granby, Bromont, Sutton, Magog, and Sherbrooke, among other stops. Check the map before you go to choose the perfect weekend for your roadtrip!

A Cultural Immersion

There’s nothing like a Christmas-themed cultural outing to get you in the festive spirit. That, and tuning into a commercial radio station that plays Christmas songs on repeat, of course!

For the eighth year running, the Centre culturel de l’Université de Sherbrooke is hosting the show Noël, une tradition en chanson. It’s the perfect event to get you in the holiday spirit! This show, with its star-studded cast including Emily Bégin, Johanne Blouin, Paul Daraîche, David Latulippe, Joël Legendre, Rita Tabbakh and Steve Veilleux, focuses on the nostalgia of Christmases past. A must-see!

While you’re in Sherbrooke, stop by the History Museum to discover the brand new temporary exhibition Noëls au cœur des gens (Christmas in People’s Hearts). You’ll learn about holiday traditions from here and elsewhere through a selection of artefacts and various visual elements.

When the weather turns cold, all you need is a nice hot drink to warm your hands and your heart. On November 28, head to the Maison Merry in Magog for Christmas tea at the Merry’s. After a themed tour of the current exhibitions, tea and sweet treats will be served in a Victorian atmosphere.

Winter Sports Activities

December means the first big snowfall (hopefully!) Certainly, when the first snowflakes cover the ground, we get out our skis, snowshoes, winter hiking boots or fat bikes to explore the snow-covered trails.

Head to Mont-Orford to hit the slopes as soon as they open, also the Marais de la Rivière-aux-Cerises for four-season hiking, or take the family to Base de plein air André-Nadeau to try out fatbikes. There are a lot of places in the region to enjoy winter sports!

Bonus : a meal at Bistro 4 saisons

For breakfast, lunch or dinner, stop by Bistro 4 Saisons to share a good meal in a warm atmosphere. Try our seasonal cocktails and dishes inspired by the ingredients of the season. Take this opportunity to get together with your partner, friends or close family before the holiday madness begins, and spend some quality time with your loved ones at our restaurant.

Don’t have time to come to the restaurant before the end of the year? We understand! Instead stop by Ratatouille, our new establishment in Magog. Pick up our delicious ready-to-eat dishes and enjoy Bistro 4 Saisons at home!
